Channel Compilation – Being a woman in the midst of a fast-paced world, and the rigors of globalization has become a pretty interesting challenge. Today, even in the midst of a fairly massive society movement, women’s leadership is still an issue that still has not found a bright spot that satisfies anyone, especially the women. Gender-based policies are just a formality, they seem to be exist as the prove of following the demands of the times, but despite the execution and implementation, the “gender fair” policy is just a fair policy for top corporations.
Being born in a country that is still quite skeptical of its stereotype that women only deserve to work in the domestic sphere made me quite interested in taking concern and learning more about women’s issues, especially about women’s leadership. Based on the analysis that I took from my own experience, I can conclude that many people underestimate women as leaders because of the stereotype that women are not strong and capable enough of being a leader, and that women’s leadership style will lead the guided community in uncertain directions.
However, if women are then able to dispel that stereotype, society still perceives it as an oddity, between considering she is the only woman who is able to lead but other women are not, or even considering this as a threat to the sustainability of male leadership, which has been loved, and even has always been obeyed and worshipped so far. So what is really odd? Women’s leadership, or the mindset of the people about the women’s leadership?
My curiosity about women’s issues led me to many interesting experiences, I often attended gender equality-based leadership exercises, women’s leadership workshops, and so on. From this experience, what I can conclude is that in the midst of a world that does not provide a safe and sufficient space for women to move, women’s leadership must be present as a smart and critical solution for that. The desired female leadership is transformative leadership is quiet needed, what is meant by transformative leadership? Transformational leadership is a leadership style that inspires and empowers individuals, groups and organizations by transforming organizational paradigms and value towards independence. So it is clear that the leadership of transformative women is the needed.
This transformational leadership of women is expected to inspire and empower many women out there, making concrete and tangible evidence of the presence and role of women in the public sphere. And also, women’s leadership in the midst of this massive social movement will be a game changer to erase the stigma of bad stereotypes about women’s leadership that has been echoed by many fan of the patriarchal system. However, on the other hand, women’s leadership in this era will have many challenges and shortcomings, including the need for a strong figure to fill it, and a strong supporting figure as well. And the supporting figure is us, the people, we need to commited to fully support this women trasnformative leadership for a better future of the nation.
So the conclusion of this essay is that the urgency of women’s transformative leadership in the era of societ 5.0 is very much needed, as a gender fair policy solution that empirically has a gap between expectations and reality as well as concrete evidence of the existence of women’s roles in the public sphere.
